Piano/Keyboard Instructor: Kathryn Lauber
Classical, Popular, Rock, Show Tunes for beginning to advanced level students of all ages.
Kathryn studied piano performance, ear training and music theory at The Brooklyn Conservatory of Music in New York City under concert pianist/composer and studio owner, Paulette Hios. An accomplished solo pianist, Kathryn performed at the George Gershwin Recital Hall in Brooklyn, The Carnegie Recital Hall in New York City, and in recitals at the Conservatory. With strong roots in performance, and a background accompanying chorus, choir, vocal soloists, theater companies and bands, she is at home on stage as an accomplished solo pianist, or accompanist.
Her most recent project was as music director with the Thistle Dew Theater in Sacramento, where she arranged and performed an original musical score using a variety of musical styles such as rock, folk, jazz, gospel and blues. As keyboard accompanist with The Acting Company in Yuba City, she arranged and performed the score for the Broadway musical, The Man of La Mancha, originally written for guitar and orchestra. Her upcoming projects include composing two scores, one for a newly published play in the genre of political satire, and the other, for a soon-to-be published Gothic screenplay.
Kathryn is extremely sensitive to the individual style preferences of her students, and tailors her lessons to fit each student’s level and ability. An understanding of basic theory, learning to play by ear as well as knowing how to read music augments musicianship. Keyboard Technique is the keystone of a solid foundation. She instructs students on effective practice skills so that they can achieve their musical goals.
