The Drum Shop at Skip's isn’t just a place to pick up new gear. It’s a place to pick up knowledge. Knowledge about the equipment you already have and knowledge about the equipment you don’t know about yet. If we don’t have what you need then we’ll figure out how to get it for you or introduce you to something that may work even better. We would love to send you home with you something but our main goal is for you to leave satisfied and happy and sometimes that means helping you find something somewhere else.

One of the things that set us apart is our willingness to help. If you bought something somewhere else and just need to learn how to use it properly, just bring it in.

Need a quick tune up on your snare? Bring it in. Drum pedal not working? Bring it in. Half the time someone comes in thinking they need a new snare or pedal when really they just need a part. We’re here to help you whether you buy something or not.

Acoustic Drum Kits

Here at Skip's, we carry major brands like Ludwig, Tama, Yamaha, Gretsch, Mapex, and DW. However, we also pride ourselves on including companies you might not find elsewhere, like Sonor, Pork Pie and Oriollo. We feature a selection of used and vintage drums if you’re looking to add a unique piece to your kit or ensemble.

If you’re just starting out, we have beginner to intermediate sets, including all-in-one kits which come with drums, hardware and cymbals.We have tons of options that will fit both your needs AND your budget.

Electric Drum Kits

Modern technology allows drummers and percussionists to add unique sounds or performance options to their repertoire using electronic or digital drum sets or percussion instruments. In addition to bringing a multitude of sonic possibilities, electric drums make studio or stage recording much easier as they directly connect to the sound system.

We carry most major brands, but favor Yamaha and Roland because quality matters to us. Both offer fantastic kits from entry to pro levels. We also offer triggers, sound pads, drum machines and innovative hybrid products, like the Yamaha EAD system.

Snare Drums

The snare drum is easily the most important part of your drum set. We have a great selection of major brands, like and models in all sizes, from piccolos to deep snares at every price point. If you just need new wires, we’ve got you covered: we feature a full selection of Puresound and Fat Cat wires, as well as budget-friendly options.

 

Cymbals

Skip’s has many options to personalize your cymbal set up. Whether you play Sabian, Zildjian, Meinl or Paiste we’ve got them all. If you’re looking for a new ride or some hi-hats, we can help you find what you need or introduce you to something you didn’t know you wanted. We also carry brands and lines you may not have heard of like Crescent and Amedia.

If you’re looking for a set of practice cymbals we can help you with that too. We have a huge selection of entry level cymbals individually or in complete sets.

Hand / Ethnic Percussion

Sacramento has a large community of Latin/Afro-Cuban players and Skip’s is the best place in the area to pick up anything you might need. We feature brands like LP, Toca, Gon Bops, De Gregario and some obscurities, like PM Music and Tree Works.

Sticks / Mallets

Everyone has that favorite “go-to” stick and you can expect Skip’s to have it in stock. We offer Pro-Mark, Vic Firth, Vater, Regal Tip and Los Cabos as well as HeadHunterz and other great hybrid stick companies, and each brand offers a variety to choose from. Whether you’re looking for a 7a or marching sticks, we will help you find what you need.

 

Hardware, Heads, Parts, and Accessories

Whether you prefer the Remo Ambassador, the Evans G1 or the Aquarian Classic, we have the drum heads you want and need. We carry heads from 6”-26” in every major brand and most styles. We can help you figure out what heads will work best for your set and accomplish that sound you want to achieve.

Here at Skip's, we also don’t like to throw things away so we have a huge collection of old bolts, screws and various parts for most major companies.
