About Jared
Jared Blum is a Sacramento native and brass & woodwind specialist with both a Master of Music (Magna Cum Laude, 2019) and a Bachelor of Music (Cum Laude, 2015) from Sacramento State University (CSUS). He’s highly passionate about teaching, jazz, and helping students grow on their instruments.
Jared teaches:
- Trumpet, trombone & low brass
- Saxophone & clarinet
- Beginning flute
- Percussion, piano & voice
- Music theory, composition, conducting, arranging & jazz improvisation
Community-minded and active in the local music scene, Jared volunteers with the Ben Ali Shrine Band and the Citrus Heights Community Marching Band (CHCMB), and manages First Saturday Jam, a monthly educational jazz jam and fundraiser in Rocklin.
In addition to teaching, Jared performs regularly with a variety of ensembles, including popular high-profile groups such as Innersoul and the David Perez Band. He has learned from and shared the stage with many world-class musicians across jazz, big band, and contemporary styles.
In lessons, Jared helps students:

- Develop improvisation and reading skills
