About Mark
Mark is from Chicago, Illinois where he studied with several of the world-renowned teachers and players. By 1966 he was playing in many of the famous hotels and clubs in the Chicago area. In 1967 he auditioned for and was accepted into the United States Air Force Drum and Bugle Corps.
In 1971, after four years in the USAF, Mark relocated to California and has resided here ever since. He has played in several clubs, hotels and restaurants throughout Northern California. He began privately teaching in the Sacramento area in 1977. He has been teaching at Skip’s Music since 2005. Many of his past students have become well known drummers and percussionists in the area.
Mark has taught people of all ages. His method is specialized to the student’s ability and interest, emphasizing the basic rudiments of drumming, note reading and timekeeping. He teaches various styles of rudimental snare drumming, jazz, concert percussion, Latin and rock rhythms.
