About Thomas
Thomas Murphy is a professional guitarist and instructor with over 35 years of teaching experience. He enjoys helping students build strong fundamentals while learning the music they love, working with players of all ages and experience levels in a supportive and engaging environment.
A graduate of Hollywood’s renowned Musicians Institute Guitar Institute of Technology (G.I.T.), Thomas studied with some of the industry’s most respected guitarists, including Paul Gilbert, Allen Hinds, Joe Diorio, Ross Bolton, Paul Hanson, and many others.
Over the years, Thomas has taught and mentored a wide range of students, including Tito Jackson, Hayley Kiyoko, and the children of Gregg Bissonette and Eddie Money.
Thomas has also been fortunate to share the stage and record with musicians associated with legendary artists including David Lee Roth, Joe Satriani, Tower of Power, Toto, Jeff Beck, Huey Lewis & the News, and En Vogue.
Teaching Method
Thomas tailors each lesson to the student’s goals and interests, balancing technique, rhythm, theory, and practical application to help students develop confident real-world playing skills.
His teaching style focuses on building strong musical foundations while keeping lessons engaging, enjoyable, and connected to the music each student loves.
Thomas teaches both electric and acoustic guitar and works across a wide range of styles including Rock, Pop, Country, Jazz, Classical, R&B, Soul, Funk, Metal, and Blues.
