Teaching Method

Liz understands there are unique qualities in every voice and strives to bring out the best qualities in the individual’s voice. With a contemporary curve, Liz designs a custom program for each individual including education about the anatomy of the voice and its care; classical vocal exercises; contemporary song studies; a touch of theory; and other activities to find and enhance the quality of each individual voice… “The vocal cords are muscles; with proper toning and conditioning, their strength can be heard.”

Education

Liz is a classically trained vocalist with a performance background in rock, pop, musical theatre, classical & Christian hymns/pop music. Liz has been singing since she learned how to talk and has been studying vocal technique since 1993.

Other

Liz has performed at venues of all sizes, including Carnegie Hall in New York. She has written music for musical theatre, film, television, and advertisements, served as a musical director, and continues to perform and write with her band and songwriting collaborative, The Bitter Elegance.

Violin

Liz has been teaching violin lessons since 2009

Teaching Method

Liz teaches traditional/classical violin techniques to beginning and intermediate students, focusing on posture, bow hold, intonation, timing, and sight reading. She uses the Essential Elements for Strings method and supplements with contemporary, classical, and fiddling music.

Background

Liz began studying classical violin in 1988 and has performed with numerous orchestras and local Sacramento bands. She has received multiple awards for musical versatility and continues to perform and collaborate with a variety of projects.
